Connection through film: Diary of a Lost Girl

Come and watch a rarely shown silent film from one of the Weimar’s best directors, G.W.Pabst. A tale of sexual abuse, exploitation,  personal resilience and the importance of loving connections will be accompanied by a live musician, Jane Gardner. The enigmatic Louise Brookes claims every pre-code frame in a tragic mirroring of her real life. She does, however, get to dance one of the first tango scenes in movies. Dance if you wish. We can stay for a discussion of the issues raised in the film afterwards. Films can represent difficult life experiences and connect us to others through collectively bearing witness.
